Game Of Thrones Maisie Williams Is Now An X Men (just Like Onscreen Sister Sophie Turner) In New Mutants

Superhero fans and “Game of Thrones” enthusiasts everywhere might just be in for an epic crossover that could make the geek world explode in excitement. If recent casting rumors come to fruition,

Maisie Williams could be heading to the superhero movie world.

According to NME, Williams is being eyed by the “

X-Men” crew to be brought in as part of the cast to play a major role in Fox’s X-Men spinoff movie entitled

“The New Mutants.” Rumors add that, if cast, she will be playing Wolfsbane, a mutant from Scotland with a special power- the ability to transform into a powerful werewolf.

Maisie Williams is rumored to be recruited by long term “X-Men” producer Simon Kinberg. Josh Boone, director of 2014’s “The Fault In Our Stars,” is set to act as co-director and writer for this new “X-Men” spinoff and is rumored to be completely on board with the idea of getting the young “Game of Thrones” star involved with the film.

In an attempt to bring a young adult feel to the project, Boone and Kinberg agree that Williams will be able to fill the gap in their need for YA (young adult) type actors, in order to help this project stand on its own in respects to the original X-Men franchise.

“Boone and his writing partner are working on the script,” Kinberg recently told IGN. “They’re doing a really nice job of it, and it’s a really cool one, because in many ways, like Deadpool was so different from the mainline X-Men movies, New Mutants… It’s maybe not as different as Deadpool, but it has its own unique, original voice to it.”

As far as the cast of characters for the new spinoff goes, Kinberg went on to add that we will see X-Men characters and related mutants that we haven’t seen yet on the big screen. He went on to add that, “There’s a very deep bench. There’s a long, long list of names, and I’ll tell you some of the names on that list I don’t even know. That’s how deep it goes.”

Williams currently plays the spunky and vengeful

Arya Stark on HBO’s “

Game of Thrones”. The idea of little Arya joining the X-Men cinematic universe is already enough to take fans’ excitement to a higher level. Even more exciting is that Williams is following her “Thrones” co-star and onscreen sister Sophie Turner’s footsteps into the same superhero universe.

Maisie Williams returns as Arya Stark in the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones” which airs on April 24. Meanwhile, “The New Mutants” is scheduled for release sometime in 2018.
