Rita’s Of Livingston Closes Its Doors After 10 Years

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The question of whether area residents would venture out for their free Italian ices on the first day of spring this year despite the snow will not be answered, as Rita’s of Livingston announced via Facebook today that it has lost its lease after 10 years in business.

“I regret to inform you, Ritas of Livingston will not be serving free ice today for the first day of spring,” the owner posted on the “Rita’s of Livingston” Facebook page Monday afternoon. “Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I have lost my lease after ten years due to my landlord demanding a monthly rent unreachable for the type of business I run. I would like to thank the entire town of Livingston and all the surrounding towns for all the love and support over the past 10 years!”

Many commented on the post stating their disappointment and that the business, located at 142 South Livingston Ave., will be missed.
