This Is Kentucky Basketball (March 19)

Wichita State and Kentucky in a big NCAA Tournament second-round matchup? Well, this sounds familiar.

The Shockers and Wildcats squared off Sunday afternoon in a rematch of their incredible 2014 thriller. That year, Wichita State entered the tourney as a No. 1 seed and met No. 8 Kentucky in the second round. It was one of the best tournament games in recent memory, and John Calipari's squad ultimately won 78-76.

This time around, the No. 2 Wildcats faced the No. 10 Shockers with De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk (instead of the Harrison Twins) taking on Markis McDuffie and Landry Shamet (instead of Cleanthony Early and Fred VanVleet). It wasn't as pretty as the contest three years ago, but the result was the same. Two big blocks by Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo sealed a 65-62 win for the Wildcats, and they are headed to the Sweet 16.

Sporting News provided updates and highlights throughout the game. You can see all the great plays you missed below.

4:54 p.m. ET —  And here... we... go. We got back-to-back 3-pointers, a monster De'Aaron Fox dunk and a Landry Shamet bomb from beyond the arc. Kentucky is up 63-62 with the ball and 55.7 seconds on the clock. Oh boy. This is getting interesting.

4:46 p.m. ET — De'Aaron Fox is out here swiping steals. The freshman point guard picks off a soft pass and throws down the lefty hammer dunk. He's got 12 points, and Kentucky starts to widen its advantage. It's 58-51 with four minutes to go.

4:28 p.m. ET — Buckets are tough to find. Neither team has led by more than six points the entire game, and both sides are still shooting under 40 percent from the field. The Wildcats take a 48-44 lead to the bench with less than eight minutes left.

Also, this is one of the crazier stats of the tournament.

Kentucky does not have a single fast break point in this game.

4:15 p.m. ET — Slam, Bam, thank you ma'am! Malik Monk finds Bam Adebayo for the alley-oop dunk to complete a quick 7-0 run. Kentucky jumps ahead 40-37 with 13:07 remaining in the game.

4:09 p.m. ET — The Shockers outscored the Wildcats 13-7 to start the second half, but Derek Willis answers with a 3-pointer to cut the Wichita State lead back to one point, 37-36. Don't expect either team to back down now.

4:02 p.m. ET —  Bam Adebayo is in the building.

HALFTIME: Kentucky 26, Wichita State 24

3:42 p.m. ET — Wichita State finishes the first half 10 of 33 from the field (3 of 11 from 3-point range) while Kentucky shoots a shade better at 10 of 31 (4 of 11 from 3-point range). Shaquille Morris leads all scorers with eight points. This one could end up being a race to 50 for the win.

3:31 p.m. ET — There is nothing pretty about this one. It's a bar fight. The Shockers are playing physical, and Shaquille Morris is a big part of that. He sent this De'Aaron Fox layup attempt out of bonds with authority.

3:21 p.m. ET — With 5:55 left before halftime, the Shockers are 6 of 24 from the field, but they still only trail by one point. Gregg Marshall's team isn't letting a lack of offense affect the defensive performance.

3:13 p.m. ET — We've broken double figures! With just under 11 minutes in the first half, Kentucky takes an 11-6 lead on an Isaiah Briscoe 3-pointer.

3:06 p.m. ET — At the first TV timeout, the Shockers are up 6-4. Both teams are shooting below 30 percent so far.

3:01 p.m. ET — After no points through the first two minutes of the game, Wichita State's Zach Brown opens up the scoring with a free throw. This one might be a defensive struggle.

2:43 p.m. ET — Flashback time!
