Trump Woke Up Sunday, Checked Fox News, & Tweeted Like A Brainless Cheeto

Early this Sunday morning, the Islamic State terror group carried out a series of bombing attacks on Egyptian churches, killing dozens upon dozens of Coptic Christians who had gathered there for worship services marking Palm Sunday.

President Trump took to Twitter in the hours following the attacks to express his condolences, although, as is unsurprising with Trump, the condolences serve more to highlight the narrow view that Trump has of the world than to speak to the actual atrocities themselves.

Trump wrote: “So sad to hear of the terrorist attack in Egypt. U.S. strongly condemns. I have great confidence that President Al Sisi will handle situation properly.”

…confidence that President Al Sisi will handle situation properly.

These terse condolences are about as hollow as condolences come.

For one, it’s incredibly noteworthy that Trump has chosen to speak to this attack when he’s ignored so many others. For instance, after a number of Muslims who had gathered for religious services were killed by a Trump supporting maniac in Canada, what did our President say?

Nothing.

It’s as if Trump can only see things if they fit his agenda. Trump wants to drum up public fury against Muslims; thus, he chooses to highlight incidents like this one where the attackers are loosely connected to Islam, while ignoring incidents where Muslims are victimized by his very own supporters.

It’s on this same note that Trump made up the fairy tale that he’d seen Muslims rejoicing in the streets in the United States after the 9/11 terror attacks. That simply didn’t happen, and no matter how much Trump wants to try and drum up hate against Muslims, the vast majority of us aren’t interested in going along with him on his power trip.

Another disturbing side note to Trump’s so-called condolences is the fact that if he’s so worried about the lives of Middle Eastern civilians, than perhaps he should address the fact that a U.S. bombing campaign recently claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians in Iraq.

Trump’s only strategy thus far for actually dealing with the threat of ISIS as opposed to just rambling about it on Twitter seems to be random bombing campaigns.
